Bharat Bandh: Adamant attitude of trade unions is not good for the country, says MoS Finance
KNN News | September 01, 2016

Minister of State for Finance, Arjun Ram Meghwal has said that the “adamant attitude” of the trade unions is not good for the country and for them too.
At least 18 crore workers from at least 10 central trade unions (CTUs) are participating in the 'Bharat bandh' today, also known as the trade union strike, against the anti-labour policies of the Narendra Modi government.
Replying to a question of KNN India, he said that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had already brought the issues in public forum. “We have taken the positive decisions too, but still we are ready to talk.” He was here to attend the Panel Discussion & Book Release titled Competition and Regulation in India organised by the CUTS international.
Minister suggested that trade unions should come forward for the talks and government is ready to settle the issues which are possible.
Meghwal, however, said that the government will see its resource and their demands and then government can take any decision. Speaking on the Goods and Services Tax (GST), he said that more than half states have ratified the constitutional amendment bill which is a good sign.
“Now we will constitute the GST council. If any problem would come then we will sit with the states to solve them,” he added.
The Modi government moved closer to implementing the ‘one nation, one tax’ Goods and Services Tax (GST) on Thursday with the Odisha assembly ratifying the GST Constitutional Amendment. This makes it the 16th state in the union to ratify the GST Constitutional Amendment. (KNN Bureau)
