Santanu Mukherjee

Santanu Mukherjee is an Advocate and accredited Mediator based in New Delhi. He the founder of Ex Lege Chambers, Advocates and Regulatory, Policy Advisors, a boutique law chambers, Ex Lege Chambers specializes in ‘Statutory, Regulatory & Policy Practice’; ‘Alternate Dispute Resolution’ and ‘Litigation’. He specializes in IPR, Competition Law, International Trade laws with focus on advanced technology industries and is engaged in legal, policy advisory and dispute resolution.

With 20 years experience, previously he had been Partner at Luthra & Luthra Law Offices and Senior Attorney with Qualcomm managing their IPR, Competition law and public policy issues for South Asia. He had also consulted for the South Centre, Geneva, Switzerland on global IP issues working closely with WIPO & WTO and a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for IP, Munich, Germany. Santanu started as an Advocate at the Calcutta High Court and worked with leading law firms.

Santanu is a law graduate from Calcutta University and holds Masters in International Law and Economics from World Trade Institute, Bern, Switzerland. He had been a visiting lawyer at the Littleton Chambers, Inner Temple Bar, London while being a British Chevening scholar. He interned at the IP Division of the World Trade Organisation, Geneva working on developmental issues. He was twice fellow of Global Salzburg Seminar in Austria.

He is a member of the Calcutta High Court Bar Association, member of International Bar Association (IBA), Licensing Executive Society International (LESI) and IP Chair of Indian National Bar Association (INBA). He sits on IP and International Trade Councils and Committees of different industry chambers and speaks regularly at national and international forums. He also lectures regularly at leading law universities and research institutes.
